The Welsh Language: A Marketing Tool?
This is one of the questions which will be considered at the Mentrau Officers’ Annual Conference, being held at the brand new Welsh centre in the Hayes, Cardiff – Yr Hen Lyfrgell -on the 2nd of February.
The sessions, that bring development and project officers from the length and breadth of Wales together, will be focussing on some of Wales’ most successful marketing campaigns with the aim of finding better ways of promoting the use of Welsh at a community level.
Ian Gwyn Hughes, from the Football Association of Wales (FAW) will be discussing their hopes for the National Side in the EURO 2016. He will also be discussing the FAW’s national campaign‘Together Stronger’ that has brought prominence to the importance of the Welsh Language as an integral part of our identity.
Richard Houdmont, formerly of the Chartered Institute of Marketing will also be challenging some of the conceptions regarding the Welsh language and will lead a session on marketing and target audience. We hope that these sessions will inspire conference goers to think more about the way they promote the use of Welsh and their projects across Wales.

“The conference is a great opportunity for us, as officers to come together to discuss new ideas, learn from each other and look at new areas for development.
This year, we have been holding conferences in language centres and we are very excited to have the opportunity to be the first organization to visit yr Hen Lyfrgell in Cardiff, a centre that will become a natural hub for the language in our Capital City.”
